Vietnamese Recipes – Grilled Chicken with Honey and Five Spices (Street Food Style) – Ga Nuong Mat Ong Ngu Vi Huong (Mon An Duong Pho)


1 Kilograms
3 Teaspoons
Cinnamon tree powder (Bot que)
1 Teaspoons
Saffron made from crocus flowers (Bot nghe)
1 Teaspoons
Five-spices powder (Bot ngu vi huong)
1 Teaspoons
Especially used for roasted chicken, available to be bought in Asian markets
Seasoning powder (Chicken stock or mushroom stock) (Bot nem)
1 Teaspoons

Preparation mode:

1/ Rinse chicken over fresh water. Gut the inside out. Pluck off any remaining feathers alongside its body. After that, cut them into halves.

2/ How to make fabulous five-spices seasoning:

Add honey + cinnamon powder + saffron powder + five-spices package + chicken stocks to a large bowl. Toss them well while adding more water into the mixture. Better to use a blender or food processor to stir them steadily and dissolve all ingredients completely.

3/ Put every single chunk of chickens into the above compound. Spread the liquid all over your chunks to make a perfect coatings. Marinate them for almost an hour to allow blended mixture seep into chicken.

4/ Turn on your oven or preheat the grill for 180-190 Celsius degrees of high heat. Lightly oil the grill grate and discard the marinade. Place chicken on a grill or a tray with tin foil (silver paper) lined at the bottom. Heat them for 20-25 minutes.

5/ Arrange your grilled chicken pieces in a large dish. Garnish it with some cucumbers, lime juice and enjoy with dipping chili sauce.
